KAWASAKI Z1 900 SUPER FOUR
HISTORY OF Z1F-17570
The first, and original owner of Z1F-17570 was a Mr. McGrady of Grand Haven, Michigan, USA.
Mr McGrady purchased the motorcycle from Garrisons Motorsports, Grand Rapids, Michigan on 28th March 1974 for $1,970

Mr McGrady took extremely good care of the motorcycle, only riding it in fair weather and always having it serviced at his local Kawasaki dealership.

At some point in late 1974 during a scheduled service, the gas tank was damaged by a mechanic in the workshop, and was subsequently replaced under warranty with a new tank from the Kawasaki factory. At that time, all replacement tanks came pre-painted from the factory with the now standard slightly larger Kawasaki emblems.
Over the course of the next 40 years, Mr McGrady rode the motorcycle occasionally on fine days, and always stored it in a safe and dry garage. During that time the motorcycle covered approximately 20,000 miles.
Around 2010 a friend of Mr McGrady offered to safely store Z1F-17570 inside his house at Wayland, MI along with several other Kawasaki Z1, H1, and H2 motorcycles. Over the course of the next 10 years, the motorcycle was periodically started and kept clean, dry and safe.
From 1974-2020 the motorcycle stayed in 100% original condition with the only service items being changed, i.e. tyres, brakes, fluids etc.
In 2020 Mr McGrady agreed to sell the motorcycle to the current owner in Brisbane, Australia. The bike was firstly transported from Wayland, MI (covered transportation) to a friend of the new owner in Krum, Texas. The bike remained in Krum for six weeks, before making the journey (again using covered transport), to Compton, CA ready for shipping to Brisbane, Australia
See the “Reconditioning” page for details of the bike from 2020-2022
