History of #003457

The motorcycle was purchased new in October of 1983 by the original owner who lived in California where he worked as a machinist for Honda. By all accounts, he was very fastidious; whenever an original part was removed, it was labelled and safely stored. During his 23-year period of ownership the bike was stored indoors and was never ridden in the rain.

During the first few week of his ownership the original exhaust pipes were removed and replaced with a 4-into-1 system. The original pipes then remained in dry, indoor storage until they were refitted to the bike in 2020.

A number of other changes were made to the bike during the initial 23-year ownership period, including black powder coating of the swing arm and cam cover. The original indicators, mirrors, choke lever and rear brake arm (to allow for a wider tyre) were all removed by the original owner, but fortunately, those original components were stored in a safe place.

Around 2006 the original owner sadly passed away, and ownership of the motorcycle was transferred to his friend in Ontario, Canada. The bike was then stored in a humidity-controlled environment, but never ridden. All the original components including the beautiful set of original exhaust pipes were safely wrapped and retained.

In 2020 the motorcycle was transferred to the current owner in Brisbane Australia. All of the original parts were refitted, along with New Old Stock (NOS) items where necessary, and full list of work completed on the bike can be found on the Reconditioning page.
